A we approach the big retail shopping season this year, my family was due for a TV upgrade. Decisions abound. What size? Go with 720p or 1080p resolution? For my fellow geeks out there. This is a very clever site that allows you to type in a conversation between objects and generate a sequence diagram on-the-fly. High tech imitates low tech and does so in real time.

I don’t know how many times I’ve been sitting somewhere and said to myself, “Self, why don’t you have a tool that allows you to write out a sequence diagram in English?” Another mystery bites the dust.

PadMapper is a web application that aims to make searching online for an apartment to rent less painful by letting you see where the apartments are on a big Google map, and using the filters located in the box on the lower left to eliminate listings that you’re not interested in.

Ok, so we all know that we should shop around for items that we want in order to get a good deal. But who has the time? Even researching products on the internet can be a major time suck — especially if you fall victim to “shiny object syndrome” like I do. The next thing you know, two hours have gone by and all you wanted to do was look at the price of office chairs (but it is wonderful to know that those celebreties are getting back together, at least for a few weeks).

Price Protectr [sic] to the rescue! Find a product you like from a vendor you trust and paste the link into this tool along with your email address. When the price changes, they will send you an email alert, showing you the new price. Simple! Now you can get back to your internet, uh, research.
